I had thought that the is a better wifi card, but if it’s a nominal difference from theI guess I’ll just continue with my current one. My best guess is a Windows update corrupted the intel wifi link 5100agn somehow and until you uninstall the corrupted drivers it was not able to connect to access points again. I went ahead and downloaded intel wifi link 5100agn full software package and installed it.
I searched for new drivers with the Intel Update software and updated the chipset drivers for the laptop as well as the drivers for the Intel Wifi Link to the drivers. Clue, when I’m close, it connects. I suppose you can use an external USB adapter but I would likn one with an external antenna connected to it, because I would have to believe the 3 antenna wire setup in your notebook has to provide superior reception over wiffi plain USB wireless adapter with an internal antenna as its only antenna.
IMO, you already have the better of any of the wireless cards that intel wifi link 5100agn can install in your PC. Certified Dell community Professional.
